Old Lady Spring

In early March 2021, we were contacted and asked if we would take in an emaciated 20ish year old mare. She came to the farm on March 22, 2021 and she was in horrible shape. We knew we had our work cut out for us with this rescue and we knew it was going to be an uphill battle--one of the most challenging rescues yet. But we weren't going to give up on this sweet little lady.

Our vet gave her a body score of 1and wasn't sure if she'd even make it through the first week.

We took things very slow in order to not shock her body, and let me tell you...this girl was a fighter. She progressed and got healthier to a point but unfortunately too much damage had been done to her internal system. She took a turn for the worst and we had the vet come out numerous times over the course of three weeks and finally the decision was made that it was time to let her go. Old Lady Spring crossed the rainbow bridge on June 27th, 2021.

We are so thankful that she got to spend her last days with us, getting the love and comfort that she deserved.
